Brockholes Nature Reserve
A great local nature reserve with a large 250 acre area to meander around.
It is not as good as Martin Mere for birds, though it is a superb for general wildlife with a lot of darters and dragon flies etc.
There are even the odd deer to be spotted, but they are quote elusive.
